College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs

Master of Public Administration

Created to prepare students for leadership roles in public service positions, Boise State University’s Master of Public Administration degree program is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration. Focusing on public and nonprofit management, it covers theoretical and practical matters. Students receive useful training in general administration and policy analysis that can benefit both students beginning their careers and professionals seeking to advance their established careers. To receive their Master of Public Administration degrees, students must complete 39 credits of graduate-level coursework. This is comprised of 21 credits of core courses in public administration and 18 credits of elective graduate study. Students who lack public or nonprofit administrative experience must also complete six credits of a supervised internship in a policy analysis or an administrative role. Students with documentation of public or nonprofit experience are excused from the internship requirement. Graduates earning their master’s degrees will be qualified to pursue a wide variety of policy, research and administrative positions in public and private organizations.

College of Technology

Drawing students from around the global, Idaho State University’s student body is comprised of students from almost all 50 states and nearly 60 countries. With 285 degree programs, the university provides top quality education in business, energy, pharmacy, health professions, humanities, teaching, nuclear research, technology and engineering. ISU’s College of Technology is committed to giving students the attitudes, knowledge and technical skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive global market. Offering some 40 programs at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate levels, the college covers a broad array of topics. Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management

Emergency management is an increasingly complex filed that requires an understanding of administrative, social, political, economic, business and bureaucratic contexts. Idaho State University’s Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management program reflects this reality, using an interdisciplinary approach that includes practical knowledge, applied research, and the requirements expressed by local, state and federal agencies to prepare students for careers in the field. All emergency management courses are taught online using Moodle and Collaborate, making the program convenient for working professionals who wish to earn a degree to polish their existing skills. To earn their bachelor’s degrees, students must complete a minimum of 120 credits with at least a “C” average. Included in that requirement are 38 general education credits, 60 core emergency management credits, and 22 credits in emergency management electives. Students completing their bachelor’s degrees will be prepared for positions in the emergency management field at private and public agencies at the local, state and federal levels.

Associate of Science in Emergency Management

Idaho State University’s Associate of Science in Emergency Management degree program highlights the needs of professional first responders at the local, state and federal levels. In this two-year program, students learn to effectively manage these needs by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that merges foundational knowledge, administrative skills and applied research. All emergency management coursework is offered online using Moodle and Collaborate. In order to complete their associates degrees, students must earn a total of at least 65 credits with at least a “C” average. This includes 38 credits in general education credits and 27 credits in emergency management coursework. After earning their associates degrees, students will be qualified to pursue entry-level jobs as security officers, emergency responders and planners, medical responders, law enforcement officers, facility operators, and military and intelligence personnel. They will also have the option of continuing their education and earning a bachelor’s degree.

College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences

Idaho’s oldest university, the University of Idaho is consistently listed by the Princeton Review as one of the nation’s best public universities. As UI’s largest division, The College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences is the academic bedrock of the university, providing students with a wide pool of knowledge and honing their intellectual capabilities. Master of Public Administration

This includes 18 credits in a core curriculum of administrative and management coursework and a practicum.
