Bachelor of Arts in Emergency Management
In Kansas Wesleyan University’s Bachelor of Arts in Emergency Management degree program, students learn from professors who have experience on the frontlines of emergency management and preparedness. Combining coursework and an internship, the program provides students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to help save lives and property during an emergency and to help with recovery after a disaster. Students may earn their degree in emergency management or add one of three tracks in victim services, homeland security and non-governmental organization. Regardless of the track chosen, students must earn 42 credits in courses related to their majors. To complete their bachelor’s degrees, students are required to earn 126 credits in general education credits, liberal arts credits and major coursework credits. Graduates of the program will be prepared to pursue emergency management positions with schools, businesses, hospitals, private agencies like the Red Cross, and governmental agencies at the local, state and federal level.

Associate in Applied Science Paramedic
Designed to provide students with the attitudes, technical skills, and foundational knowledge needed for success as an independently functioning paramedic, the Associate in Applied Science Paramedic degree program at Kansas City Kansas Community College integrates lectures, demonstrations, skilled training, hospital clinical experience, simulated patient scenarios, computer-enhanced opportunities and field internships. During the course of the 21-month program, students hone their communication and critical thinking skills and learn to adhere to all state-mandated regulations. They also learn to comprehend, apply and evaluate clinical information, display the technical skills necessary to serve as an effective paramedic, and demonstrate the compassionate professionalism expected of paramedics by employers and patients. To receive their associates degrees, students must complete a total of 66 to 68 credits. This includes 49 technical requirement credits and 23 to 25 general education credits. After receiving their degrees, graduates will be qualified to seek entry-level positions as paramedics.
