American Military University offers several ways to study Emergency Management including undergraduate and graduate degrees in Emergency and Disaster Management and certificate programs. Degrees are offered fully online and within the School of Security and Global Studies. When enrolling in the Bachelor of Arts in Emergency and Disaster Management or the Undergraduate Certificate in Emergency Management, students will receive instruction from credentialed and experienced instructors where many teachers are board-certified as emergency managers or who currently work in government agencies dedicated to safety and security. To graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management, students must complete a total of 120 semester hours of general education and emergency management core classes, as well as a final project.
Classes specifically related to the subject of disaster and emergency management include Introduction to Emergency Management, Emergency Planning, Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness, and Natural Disaster Management. Undergraduate tuition is $270 per credit or $250 per credit for students affiliated with the military. In most cases, students will take 30 credits each year as an undergraduate and will pay $8,600 a year for tuition. With a military grant, students can reduce their tuition cost to $8,000 a year. For graduate students who enroll in 18 credits annually, the total tuition cost is $6,600 a year without a military grant and $6,150 with a military grant. Students will also pay a $50 technology fee for each course.
