Chaired by Prof. Dale Anderson, the Fire Science Technology A.A.S. builds a 60-credit, two-year curriculum focused on emergency response on-site or online with Firefighter Combat Team practice and CCFSA membership. The Leadership & Organization Management A.A.S. under Prof. Scott Nolan offers a broad 64-credit, ACBSP-accredited major for sharpening public administration skills in 2000-level courses, such as Conflict Resolution. About Casper College
Casper College originated in 1945 when Natrona County High School added vocational technical certificates on its upper level as Wyoming’s first community college. In 1955, it relocated to its own 200-acre Casper campus among the Laramie Mountains in Forbes’ 101st best city for education. Fully accredited in 1960, it was renamed Casper Junior College before adopting the current Casper College name. In 1979, House Speaker Warren Allen Morton joined its Board of Trustees. Marion and Inez Tate founded its Geological Museum in 1980 that famously has 3,000 fossils. Similarly, Casper opened its Western History Center to preserve over 8,000 volumes in 2007. Casper College Accreditation Details
On October 22, 2018, Casper College started an in-depth evaluation visit from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) to properly extend the Level I accreditation through 2028 under its sixth president, Dr. Darren Divine, who also leads the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission. Headquartered 1,093 miles east via Interstate 80 in Chicago, this mega 19-state Upper Midwest accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to analyze the effectiveness of Casper’s 100 associate and 37 certificate programs. Particularly, the School of Business & Industry was accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) in September 2016. The Paramedic Technology AAS was also approved by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for Emergency Medical Services Professions (COAEMSP).
Casper College Application Requirements
Enrolling at Casper College is classified “least selective” by the U.S. News & World Report because 100 percent of the 1,451 Fall 2013 applicants were openly enrolled. First-year Thunderbirds swooping toward the Emergency Management A.A.S. must graduate from an accredited Wyoming or out-of-state high school. Cumulative GPAs above 2.0 are evidence of academic readiness. Freshmen age 16 and older could enter with GED equivalent diplomas only if graded over 450 each section. At a minimum, the Enrollment Services Office seeks ACT Reading and Math scores of 13 or greater. For the COMPASS, acceptable marks would be at least 44 Algebra, 63 Reading, and 39 Writing. Degree-seeking transfers skip freshmen criteria by carrying 30+ non-remedial credits with GPAs above 2.0. Courses like English I, Human Behavior, and Cultural Environment would count toward the 17 general credits. Foreign-born entrants must prove English fluency with a 500 Paper or 61 Internet TOEFL score before placement.
Casper College has easy rolling admission year-round for U.S. residents until final registration deadlines of August 16th for Fall, January 17th for Spring, and May 27th for Summer. Global Emergency Management A.A.S. majors must apply by April 31st or July 31st though. Interested Thunderbirds file the Casper Application online or by downloaded PDF for free. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2018-19, Casper College charged full-time Wyoming undergrad tuition of $3,072 by year. Non-resident Emergency Management A.A.S. majors paid $7,584 full-time. The Western Undergraduate Exchange lowers the rate to $4,200 annually. Studying part-time incurs $128 to $316 per credit. Associate of Applied Science students add $120 for fees each term. Estimated health insurance fees are $900. Living at the Natrona County campus’ housing like Wheeler Terrace costs $1,782 to $2,738 each semester. Standard meal plans for Tobin Dining Hall are $1,810 extra. Casper budgets $1,080 for textbooks and $2,500 for personal necessities yearly. Annual associate attendance equals around $13,328 in-state and $17,840 out-of-state if residential. Commuters spend considerably less at $6,604 to $11,116 each year.

The America’s Promise Grant offers $2,450 for health care credentialing programs like the Paramedic Technology A.S. Equality State natives can pursue the Wyoming Pell Grant, LEAP Grant, Vocational Rehabilitation Grant, and Vietnam Veterans Award. The Wyoming Community Foundation also offers 30+ awards, such as the Path-Away Scholarship, Larry Wobig Memorial Scholarship, and Vera Asay Sargent Scholarship.
