About Indiana Institute of Technology
Indiana Institute of Technology originated in 1930 when John A. Kalbfleisch opened the for-profit Indiana Technical College for unique 24-month engineering bachelor’s degrees. From an inaugural class of 13, it grew considerably in 1945 when the GI Bill passed after World War II. In 1948, the Indiana General Assembly chartered it for non-profit education. In Fall 1955, its 20-acre Fort Wayne campus acquired from Concordia College was dedicated. Fully coeducational since 1958, Indiana Technical switched to four-year degrees in 1960. Accredited in 1962, it became Indiana Institute of Technology in 1963. Two decades later, the Extended Studies Division was launched for working adults. By 1999, Indiana Tech had started its first master’s for an MBA. In 2009, it also created Northeast Indiana’s first Ph.D. in Global Leadership.

On May 4, 2018, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) Institutional Actions Council mailed a formal notification letter to Indiana Institute of Technology that extended Level V accreditation through 2027-28 under its ninth president, Dr. Karl W. Einolf, who earned the Richards Award for Teaching Excellence. Located 178 miles west Via Route 30 in Chicago, Illinois, this gigantic 19-state Great Lakes Region accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to review IIT’s 11 associate, 35 bachelor’s, five master’s, one doctoral, and five certificate offerings. Additionally, Indiana Tech is authorized by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) and Council for Adult & Experiential Learning (CAEL).
Indiana Institute of Technology Application Requirements
Entering Indiana Institute of Technology is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s since only 2,138 of the 3,059 Fall 2017 applicants were okayed for selective 70 percent acceptance. Multiplying the GPA plus GMAT score by 200 must equal over 1000 points.
