About Wilmington University
Dr. Donald E. Ross founded Wilmington College in 1968 near New Castle, Delaware. The school opened with an enrollment of 194 students but by 2006 had grown to over 10,000. It became Wilmington University in 2007 and now has campuses in New Castle, Middletown, Dover, Dover Air Force Base, Brandywine, Rehoboth Beach, and Georgetown. In addition, the school has a growing online campus as well as locations in New Jersey and Maryland.
There are no residential students at Wilmington University. Students either attend online or commute to the college campuses for classes. There are currently more than 20,000 students attending Wilmington University with 44 percent attending online. US News & World Report has ranked the school among the best for online bachelor’s degrees and it’s nursing programs are also ranked highly.
Wilmington University Accreditation Details
Wilmington University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Accreditation indicates that the school undergoes periodic review to confirm that they continue to offer programs that are at the highest level of education. If there are areas identified during the review that may need improvement, Wilmington University agrees to address them as quickly as possible. Wilmington University Application Requirements
Freshmen must submit an online application as well as official high school transcripts. All students must complete an English and math assessment as well. Transfer students who have more than 15 credit hours must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
Graduate applicants must also complete an application and provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. One transcript must indicate that the student holds a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Wilmington University Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition varies depending on which campus the student plans to attend and range from $250 to $372 per credit hour. Graduate tuition also varies based on the campus attended and range from $300 to $477 per credit hour. Doctoral tuition is $632 per credit hour regardless of which campus the student attends. Online undergraduate tuition is $377 per credit hour and online graduate tuition is $477 per credit hour.
Financial aid is available and students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for any assistance. Students may be eligible for federal grants, including Pell or SEOG, as well as TEACH Grants. Scholarships are available and on-campus students may be offered work-study programs. Financial aid packets may also include loans. There are additional forms required by Wilmington University for loans and some grants.
